Mission Statement
David J. Elliott & Associates is a professional service organization dedicated primarily
to its client's needs while striving for design and management excellence in planning,
architecture, and interior design.
In the beginning
David J. Elliott is the founding Principal of the organization following a brief
internship with Salinas architectural firms upon graduating from California Polytechnic
State University-San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1974. Following
graduate studies concentrating in Design Methods of Problem Solving, David began
his career in Monterey County. David interned with Salinas architectural firms until
earning a partnership in the well established firm of Richard Murphy and Associates
in 1978.
Serving the Central Coast - 30 Years
The firm was founded in 1979 following the transitional partnership with the retiring
partner Richard Murphy, his former employer since 1976. David established his practice
offering design services for exclusive homes on the Monterey Peninsula. After completing
private residence commissions for celebrities such as Alan Jardine (Beach Boys)
and Paul Anka (My Way) David quickly became popular serving an exclusive custom
home clientele. The firm expanded to produce a wide variety of work including planning,
architectural, and interior design services for government, industrial, commercial,
multi-family as well as single family residential projects. Today David is most
often seen at public hearings before planning commissions, city councils, and supervisor
boards assisting clients through the time consuming and often difficult approval
processes.
